How We Are (and Are NOT) Organized



The best description of how we are organized is that we aren't.  We have no officers, it's benevolent anarchy.  If someone wants to organize an event, that's cool, send an e-mail to the list and make it happen.  We've had a few really off the wall events because of this, but it works.  The one rule is: "if you don't like how an event was run, you get to run the next one."

We have no officers because we have never needed any.  Having no treasury means we don't need a treasurer, and we don't need a membership chairman to bug everyone to pay their dues.  Since we have no newsletter, we need no newsletter editor.  By having the membership organize events, we don't need a president, vice president, dive master, etc.  With the workload spread out over the membership, we don't need to find a new set officers every year or two when we burn them out.

We do have a webmaster but he's not an officer, just the scribe.
